The world through the eyes of a graphic designer.

My final project for my 1st year on the FDA was to create a 100 A5 page PDF about the alphabet in a conceptual way. The PDF had to include 26 spreads for the alphabet (one spread for each letter), two essays (one visual culture essay at the front and a personal professional development essay at the end) and the other pages had to consist of research.

The idea of this PDF is to make you think differently about what you see on a day to day basis and to ask you too question the meanings that we as a society have set for everything. I have given each letter of the alphabet a graphic design term and interpreted what I think a graphic designer would see and associate the letter with in everyday life.

Below are images of some of the spreads.

Front cover

A is for Achromatic
The non-colours: - black, white and gray.

G is for Grid
A typographic grid is a two-dimensional structure made up of a series of intersecting vertical and horizontal axes used to structure content for a book or other document.

L is for Lorem Ipsum
In publishing and graphic design, Lorem Ipsum is the name given to commonly used placeholder/dummy text to demonstrate the graphic elements of a page.

M is for Margin
A margin is the boarder around the outside of a page in which all the graphic elements sit inside.

S is for Saturation
When something is totally saturated it can’t fit anything else in it because it is so full. Saturated designs can be overwhelming and confusing.
